Hello from France !

First, thanks to MJ and all the contributors of this forum for sharing their experience.

Discovering TMF and the community a year and a half ago brought chaos to my slowlaner life. As a guy from an Asian family, I was building my path with the perfect scripted mindset: a “good” 9-5, then getting in debt for 30 years to buy a house, living an extremely frugal life to invest in stocks and hoping to start living at 67 yo. The script killed my creation dreams and left me with a void that I was filling with an addiction to video games. Maybe some people here can relate? Deep down, you know that something is wrong with your life. It’s so easy to stay in denial when you are checking the boxes written by society. Even after reading TMF and Unscripted , it took me a while and a few FTE to get rid of the script and to go out of my comfort zone.

Thanks to you, I feel free and I’m at my highest level of happiness since my childhood. I’m here to contribute to the amazing Fastlane community and to keep learning. Currently, I’m about to get my master’s degree in supply chain management from a top university. I went from preparing my 10-year slowlane career plan to going all-in with the entrepreneurial lifestyle. With a few friends, we are doing intensive market research on several CENTS business ideas. The objective is to pick the one with the highest estimated potential and to focus on the execution before 2020. On September, it will be the end of my internship and hopefully the last time that I step in a company as an employee.

Thank you for reading and have a nice day !

Welcome!

Welcome welcome welcome! Yeah things took quite a turn didn't they...

It looks like your playing the long game since you have your friends along

Not saying that's a bad thing. Actually quite the opposite since you can keep yourself accountable

Looking forward to all the good you may bring!

Thank you Dylan !
You're right, I'm playing the long game. It's a good way to keep ourselve accountable and also to get a healthy rivalry that pushes us to do more. For the moment, the hardest part is to avoid action faking...

I'd be inclined to invite them to join my company rather than being an equal member of a.group and having to.do the whole voting thing

Are you saying that I should lead the group? And how would you make the transition to this new organization?

Did you experienced a similar situation ?

If it was me, I would want to, unless there is very clearly somebody better suited to the task. I have seen situations where there isn't a clear leader, and it can cause problems. For example, I worked at a company where the owner thought he could stay home and let the business run itself, meanwhile it was like three dogs chained to each other. Management vs staff, sales vs production vs HR

Plus, there is the question of equity in any business. What's the team dynamic like right now?

Ok I see, thanks for sharing your point of view!

A quick view of the team :

Team composition
The team is composed of 4 people : a software engineer, a data scientist, a production assistant and me. We are all beginners in our fields.
I took the initiative to gather everyone together. Right now, beyond operational tasks, I'm coordinating the projects and "challenging/motivating" them. However, as you guessed it, there isn't a clear leader and we are doing the voting thing. By writing this post, I'm realizing that I'm implicitly taking the lead (partially?).

Social relation
They are all long time friends of mine (4-10+ years of friendship). Software engineer and data scientist often hang out together, but they don't know production assistant very well.

Concerning equity, nothing has been decided yet since we are still in the research phase. By default, each member will hold 25% of the business.

What are your thoughts ?
