Notice how the common theme is always not understanding a market well enough.

No talk of what buyers need or how they behave or how sellers can improve.

Nothing but let's put a bunch of tchotchke junk out there and see if it sells.

Ya mean it's a pure money chase sold by money chasing gurus who target money chasers?

Such a good read, I do always feel bad for these people though.

I opted into their funnel last year, just to learn from it. It stunk of scam from beginning to end! What's really amazing is that these guys are just two out of hundreds of players in the fake guru market. Whether it's FBA, real estate (wholesaling, in particular), MLM or whatever, this shit just goes on and on.

Not sure what my point is, other than to voice my utter dismay. Makes me tired.

I'm sorry you had to learn that lesson that way. It's so skeevy. This reinforces the importance of control in my eyes. All these months spent teaching myself to program will prevent me from relying on systems over which I have no control. I hope you're able to find a similar route.

The article is filled with money chasers.

People that "wasted 9 months of their lives!"

They assume that entrepreneurship is easy. That you just "buy from China", "ship to Amazon", and then money starts pouring in. They don't want to do any of the hard work, yet want all of the benefits.

Personally, it took me years before I started making any real money. Entrepreneurship is hard. Going in with the mindset of "I'll spend $40,000 on this random bullshit right here and Amazon will figure it out," is incredibly naive.

Sidenote:

These guys are selling their course for what? $4,000?

How many people have $100,00 in debt and a shitty job unrelated to their college degree?

College is roughly 5 classes a semester, 8 semesters, $160,000 to finish; aka $4,000 a class.

Yeah, these gurus are assholes, but I'd argue that their course is a lot more valuable than 90%+ of university classes.

I didn't buy their stuff, although I've bought crap in the past more times than I care to admit. I just opted into their funnel to learn how they do it. Some of these hucksters are actually quite adept at marketing. If only they would use their powers for good and not evil.

You're spot on about the rule of control, though. Learning to program intimidates the hell outta me and I don't know that I'll ever learn at this stage in the game. I do feel really uneasy about my income being dependent on any tech I didn't create and don't control, whether that's a simple auto-responder, CRM, email automation program or even the big stuff like Google and Facebook. I just rewatched the latest Bond installment, Spectre, and there's a great line that illustrates how I feel: "You're like a kite dancing in a hurricane, Mr. Bond." :frown:

Email tools will just be fine, as long you didn't do silly things like buy email lists dubiously (some email automation companies hate that).

But Google and FB, yes, long-term control is out of your whim.

I'm curious as to what copy they wrote on their Amazon product descriptions.

I sincerely hope that they didn't copy-paste the words DIRECTLY from Ali Baba. I'm speaking from experience...a client didn't like my copy, and he showed me what he 'liked'-90% of the stuff was still from the Ali Baba page.

Needless to say, I left...
