Does anyone have any suggestions on where or how I can Source Teaching Aids for my Course? Specifically Detailed Pictures and Diagrams.

- I know I can NOT just take pictures off of google and shove them in my course (Right? lol)
- Stock Images & Royalty Free Images - Lack Selection / Detailed Images.

- Can I screen capture myself "exploring" the internet and talking about certain pictures, maybe say ones posted in an online forum by random people?
- Would my best bet be, to source a graphic designer to make Infographics, Diagrams, Teaching Aids for me specifically based on a set of parameters given to them?

Ie: If I was teaching Human Anatomy for example, and I needed pictures of the different parts of the human body. But then say for example, I also needed more detailed pictures, like a Picture of a Lung, then a picture of a Unhealthy Lung, a Diseased Lung, A Malformed Lung, etc.

Ie2: Or If was teaching Auto-mechanics, and I wanted pictures of Good Shocks, Rusty Shocks, A pictures of how rust breaks down shocks and struts, etc.

you could, but i mean its frowned upon.... (like peeing out of a running car window)..... often times those images will have watermarks now

it depends on what you are presenting. I hate powerpoint. If you are utilizing a powerpoint I for example would not even bother with the course. A real model with a person explaining parts of a vehicle, human body etc etc would be much better and worth while.

im sure you could ask university libraries for diagrams and depictions, or perhaps a lab with several medical resources for free perhaps. Who knows. I always wished there was a way for people to cut open cadavers to really see the experience of what is inside of our bodies and to fully appreciate our health system (which we often take for granted). But i bet that experience would turn heads and would get a lot of negative feedback from the religious zealots and or government etc etc..... I mean i learned so much about cows and pigs from a hog and steer buthering class, it helped me support local agri in a big way plus it was hands on and it was a great life skill...

Thanks for the Advice!

I do not intent to use google images pictures.

I have about 40% of the content for the "Practical" teaching components, that I have personally photographed, over 5+ years. (ie: I have enough content to show the human lungs, how they look inflated when you run, how they are red on the outside, etc. [I'm making it up.])

However when teaching "Theory" I need visuals to portray how different factors would take a toll on "XXX". I can't current imagine any practical way to depict all the variables. (Ie. How a human lung would look at 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 1hour of direct contact to oxygen, then direct contact to smoke, then direct contact to high-density-fog [again just an example].) -> I know I can google them and get ideas, and I have my teaching notes why I can give a designer who *Should???* be able to make me what I need, I'm hoping. (I was also hoping there might be other alternatives.)

The Universities is a good idea, but I was thinking that they also teach from textbooks (copyrighted), or they would probably have their own "propriety" material. I will give this avenue a look though!
^ OR am I overthinking this? Can I simply get a Textbook, or Chart Provided by a Textbook Manufacturer, and use those for my "Theory" teachings? I just don't want to get hit with a copyright-infringement suit for using McGraw's Pictures in my course.

I will be teaching Theory through Power-Point and Audio, but also hands on via a Writing Board/ White Board. In addition to that, I will have live demonstration videos of practical use of the theory I taught earlier, put into use. As well as other various "help-tools" like notes and trouble-shooting charts. I will be uploading it to a Wordpress hosted education theme site.
^I hope to add an interactive, do-it-with-me type aspect to it to. Although I'm still tossing around logistics.

This. Keep doing this. It is your own in the credits & copyrighting realm.

Instead of powerpoint, maybe you can make a quick video with you showing an image on a projector or something with a pointer (laser etc) depicting the intricacies of whatever it is you are trying to theorize to a person.

Maybe you can get access to a SMARTboard somehow. This is what all the top notch schools in europe are using. It is really amazing. It works flawlessly and is really intuitive. They seldom use powerpoints here due to the studies that have meticulously documented lack of participation and interest through (death by powerpoint) PPT for a reason....

Not trying to attack your antics by any means, just want you to stand out and differentiate from all the other youtubers and course developers tring to teach something. I know when i was studying engineering way back (before khanacademyexisted) there was Math Tutor Dvd and Jason from Texas, did a great job with a simple white board and explained everything face on on the camera. Including physics and math topics that were quite complex.

You could provide a chart from a text book to an artist as the basis for a design. As long as it is just used for the data rather than an copy then that should be fine. You can reference the source of the data back to the text book if necessary (or to the original source the text book took it from).

I just did an image search for Pareto's Law and found several images that are pretty much identical to each other but are obviously different images.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback!

I think my highschool used to have smartboards, maybe they'll let me squeeze in off-hours haha.

Thanks, yeah that should work!
