Hello all, Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to be apart of your community. I subscribe 100% to being your own boss and acquiring the skills to do so. I graduated pharmacy school in 2013 and got a job with Walmart. I lost the drive to climb the corporate ladder when last September Walmart gave me the option to be laid off or reduced my salary by $30,000. I humbly accepted the significant pay cut like a punished pup who pooped on the carpet. Long story short I had to move for the lack of support for my daughters and career. I am now hoping to build an online business that can help me spend the time that my children need and deserve. I look forward to friendships here and being a valuable part of this community. Thank you once again @MJ DeMarco

Hello and thank you for the introduction. Sorry to hear what that WalMart pulled a fast one on you. It doesn't surprise me -- in the corporate grind, we're all just numbers to be greased.

So if I read right, you accepted the paycut but ended up leaving anyway?

I would have expected your job to be pretty safe.

Was there something else that got you to the FTE of quitting?

Sorry but I’m just seeing this. I wanted more stability for me and my two daughters. When they cut my hours, I realized that wasn’t in the best situation. I wanted to be free from the threat of losing my position.

Welcome. I wish you the best of luck with your online venture. Consume as much content as you can on the subject and learn by doing. The online space is constantly changing, keep at it and don't give up. When I started my online biz it took me 4 months to start making a profit

Hi Jovun, welcome to the forum!

I'm not surprised that Wal-mart turned out to be a bad employer. But I am surprised that there weren't other pharmacy jobs right at hand. Many years ago I talked a lot with a pharmacist about her career. She was constantly getting recruited by all the major chains. There were always offers of raises and big bonuses if she'd come on board. She had her pick of places to work based on how much she liked the people and the pay. Maybe the glory days of assured job security for pharmacists are over?

Pharmacists need to have so much knowledge and skill! You know a lot about biochemistry, medical providers, insurance billing, customer service, attention to detail to count the right number of pills, etc.

Is there some part of this that was a real joy, which you'd like to include in your future career? Is there some part of it that you're relieved can be behind you in your past?

Any specific thoughts yet about what you'd love to do next, while you're enjoying more time close to your daughters? Are they old enough to participate in your new online business?

If you haven't read MJ's books yet, of course I recommend them! This is a rare and special community. A big part of that is getting to interact directly with such a great author. I hope you find lots of inspiration, practical advice, and new friends here.

Thank you for the advice. I still have yet to start selling online, and my children are too young to help me. My goal is to have the passive income to become a more active mom. I’m still learning and MJs book was awesome! God bless!

As far as being a pharmacist, I have 3 friends who are in that line of work. 2 Work at Walmart, get paid well but not a fan of the politics, another works at HEB (grocery chain in south Texas) and she loves the job and her high pay rate! They all say they get offers all the time from other companies. The one that works at Walmart is quickly moving up... she has accepted that they have control over her so she follows their rules like a trained puppy dog.

I love Gulfport, we drive through there several times a year going to Destin. If my daughter didn't live in Destin we would probably just stop in the Gulfport area most times.

So what is it that makes you smile as far as making money goes?
