You know, socialist, extremely liberal-leaning, and similar groups/subreddits don't bother me. You see problems in the world and you want them fixed. That's cool. I'm not going to freak out because your opinions differ.

You know what bothers me? Their hypocrisy. Their lack of action.

Once, I read a thread about a girl's boyfriend who refused to get a job because he didn't want to help prop up a corporate environment. Or something to that effect. And I really enjoyed the responses to the thread.

It was completely fine to think that. But, how was he using his time? Was he volunteering at local charities? Providing his time to the poor? Hell, was he at least trying to make art that captured the essence of the struggle?

Or was he dicking around? Living off his girlfriend's work. Hint: When she said she was going to quit her job for the same reason (to test him) he threw a fit. Said she was irresponsible, childish, etc.

Voicing opinions within an echo chamber is not helping.

Regardless of your beliefs, if you're just reciting the same shit to your echo chamber, you're not doing anything.

You support Planned Parenthood? Good. Donate.
You want the environment to be saved? Write for a nonprofit, send them a few extra dollars, etc.
You believe the poor need help? I'm sure a local food pantry or soup kitchen wouldn't mind a helping hand.

If you can scrounge together an extra ten dollars, then you can donate to a cause you believe in. If you have literally no money, that's fine. You have sweat to give.

I'm not saying that government shouldn't be involved in supporting their causes. The forum isn't the place to discuss that. But, sharing a bunch of memes or articles from "socialistamericaisbestamerica.freedom" to your echo chamber is not going to help.

You want to spread information about your cause? Pick up books on P.R., marketing, readTrust Me, I'm Lying, and learn how to wage a war of information and public opinion.

I'm not saying don't read and share articles. Or not to protest (that's your right as an American!). But I'm saying don't stop there. If you want to see change, you're going to need to roll up your sleeves and get to work.

There are over 100,000 subscribers to Late Stage Capitalism. If, given half a year, they each saved up five dollars, then they would have the ability to donate half a million to the cause of their choice.

In the words of a friend, "I am, of course, generalizing." I'm sure that plenty of the people on that subreddit give their time, sweat, and money to causes. Just as people on the other side of the spectrum will both be lazy and unhelpful, and productive and charitable.
