How to make the most of a Small Office Space

It is a tricky task, especially when the increasing cost of time, labor, commodities and space play such a large role in the decisions we make. This has led to the brewing of a ‘less is more’ revolution. So my question is how do we make the best use of the available office space?

For me its shelves. Walls are such wasted space, get some of those floating shelves and put them up everywhere. And you also gotta keep it uncluttered. A slightly cluttered small room feels terrible in my opinion.

Don't have an office space?

A laptop on a table in the kitchen?

What do you really need in your office?

This. Can't think of a reason to have a dedicated 'small office' apart from having employees. If it's just me I can make do at home.

I see your stapler and raise you a large whiteboard.

Given that this thread was raised in the real estate section I'm guessing you do need an office. Whiteboards are fantastic for writing down quick details and drawing up plans and road maps - especially when you're on the phone. It's in your face, you can write and draw big, use lots of colours...what's not to love? And it won't get lost like a tiny post-it note will.

Or these days you can actually get whiteboard paint if you have nice flat walls but space is limited.
