I'm in Chiang Mai. Will be down in Bangkok sometime soon for product development reasons.

How come you went with Bangkok over Chiang Mai?

Cool. Message me when you're in town if you want to meet up

Actually stayed in CM for a couple of months last year but prefer Bangkok as it's easier to get around via Taxi/BTS as I don't ride a scooter and also the nightlife is open later

I lived in CM for a while, too. But I prefer Bangkok for many reasons. One of them is the Entrepreneur Scene. In CM are too many people who just want to "get by" and eat their 40 Baht Pad Thai 3x a day, while "working" on their blog. In Bangkok are more serious business people.

Yeah I get that. There are good people here, just gotta get past the abundance of bloggers and life coaches.

I'm heading to Thailand in about a month, i was thinking of Chiang Mai, but since i've seen from your post is
Bangkok that much better for the Entrepreneur scene. Thats the main reason I'm going. Are the living expenses pretty much the same?

There are not many places as cheap as Chiang Mai. But from my experience, you can live in Bangkok almost as cheap as in Chiang Mai. The "problem" with Bangkok, it's F*cking huge. If you want to be close to the entrepreneurial scene and the good co-working spaces, you have to be around Sukhumvit area. And then it is more expensive and also not so easy to find short term rentals, like in CM.

But what is your budget? And what kind of level of comfort and convenience do you want? I pay around 600$ for my apartment (with electricity), but I have a very nice room. There is a huge pool, great staff and even European Management. Daily room cleaning with fresh towels. Basically I have a long term stay in a hotel. You can also get a room for 100$ per month, but usually no furniture and it will not be nice and not convenient and not a good location.

I'm here.

I am not in BKK from 16-26th of January. Apart from that I am around.

Thats still pretty cheap. 500-1000 per month on living expenses and the rest I would like to leverage in business. I'm looking to meet more "fastlane" entrepreneurs in Thailand opposed to bloggers/follow your passion which seems to be all I see when I look up Thailand

That's because Thailand is cheap and therefore attractive for these kind of people, especially Chiang Mai. I haven't met anyone in Bangkok who said "I have this blog ...." . They all have or at least want to have a higher income. Not necessarily Fastlane (I don't think many people have read it), but definitely more serious business and people who don't just want to "get by".

If you need help with accomodation or any other questions about Bangkok, let me know.

One night in Bangkok and the world's your oyster
"It's a drag, it's a bore, it's really such a pity
To be looking at the board, not looking at the city"

:D

And to the guys living here or looking at coming for serveral months.

I'm currently considering renting out a townhouse to make into my office but it's too big for just myself. 3 floors, 400 sqm, can walk to the Prakhanong BTS in just under 10 mins.

Rent is cheap - and ideally I'd have 3 to 6 guys sharing the space. Needs a bit of stuff before it would be ideal (aircon, desks, etc) Anyone looking for office space of their own instead of working out of coworking spots?

I'll have to make a decision within a few days

I'm in Phuket just now, will be in Bangkok for 2 days 1 night on the 23rd.
Got a flight to catch the night of the 24th.

If anyone wants to meet up on the 23rd afternoon or 24th evening, I'm game.

@Jake hit me up bud!

Hey buddy. 24th probably not an option for me. If your plans change I may be free later on in the night tomorrow.

Still using the same whatsapp? I'll reach tomorrow night

I'm hoping to get out there for a couple weeks and see how I like it.

Anyone here speak Thai? And if so: can I buy you dinner and drinks in exchange for helping me check into the Airbnb?

I didn't really consider Bangkok, but these rooftop pools have me intrigued. Seems like the perfect spot to relax for a bit, get work done, and then hop a flight to Guangzhou.

$1,100 a month for a one bedroom through Airbnb. Or $50 a night. $750 long-term.

Currently preparing to head over to BKK for a few days then Chiang Mai on January 12th. My main goal is to travel for a new perspective while learning as much as possible. I would love to meet up with other fastlaners while over there and plus I also know a little/decent amount of Thai

I currently have a Hostel booked for my stay ( 20 days) but I'm considering an apartment. What do you think?

It's up to your budget and what you want to do. If it's for fun, a hostel is good, but you probably won't make many business connections in a hostel. An apartment becomes cheap, once you book for a month. The cheapest apartment in my building is 12.000 Thai Baht for a month and it's only a monthlz contract, of which you will not find so many in BKK. Ur22 Residence starts at 10.500. In both cases you have to pay between 1000 and 1600 extra for bedsheets (and in my case, daily cleaning is also included)

Seeing this pop up on here makes me want to gtfo of Dallas.

I spent 2 years in BKK for work, and it was by far the best city I've ever lived in. Miss it so damn much, but my business isn't online, so US is where the action is for me.
