For the last year I have been auctioning an item on ebay that generally sells for anywhere between $450 and $950.
Recently, I've had a problem twice now with bidders from S. Korea who bid up the item into the $600-700 range but then back out when they see that there are extra shipping charges of up to $200 + .
I don't experience this with every S. Korean buyer, so I'd prefer to not discontinue my international reach to this region, but I'm wondering if anyone here has experienced something similar, and if there is a better way for me to continue doing this without having to worry about lost time and losing out on the 2nd highest bidder.
2nd chance offers I've found don't work with the item I am selling, and ebay customer service is, sorry to say, useless. As they are paid to repeat "the script".
I did make a suggestion to the rep today on the phone that they may benefit from locking in the second highest bidder as well for a set period of time, which the rep thought was a great idea, but, getting something useful like this implemented with a behemoth such as ebay obviously isn't going to happen.
Is there a way that I can force this buyer to pay, seeing that paypal doesn't have an issue with invading a seller's account, what about a buyer?
If anybody has any ideas with how to overcome this, it would be appreciated.
