If you use Google Analytics you know that Google is big to show you your bounce rate, the % of visitors that visit one page on your site then leave. Google uses this to in deciding how to grade your website and if it is worthy to move up in the rankings. As they see it, if someone searches a phrase, clicks on your site, then immediately returns, they didn't get what they were looking for. I have two tricks to reduce bounce rate that I am willing to share:
if you have a Wordpress site, add a page break in your articles to make them two pages long, then people landing on your site will have to view multiple pages to get to all your content on a subject.
with any kind of site, put a good size link on your most landed pages that says something along the lines of: Didn't find what you were looking for?? Click here and suggest a topic... Send them to a contact form with instructions to fill in and send. This gets you that second page view, and you might stumble across a market or related market you hadn't thought of.
You want to have a bounce rate as low as you can get, my bigger sites have a bounce rate in the 24-30% range and I am more aggressively using my second tip here to drop that another 5-10%, I may report back later on the success of it. But don't wait on me to report, try it on your site and tell me how it is working for you.
P.S. This not a thread to discuss how Google Analytics is the devil and using it will get your sites banned and all that, save that for warriorforum.com, I am only advocating getting you more multiple pageviews from one visitor.
