Then theory + practice how to hold a gun (starting with a gun replica, not an actual gun), racking the slide (here we started using actual guns), putting the bullets into the magazine, using a speedloader, checking if the gun is loaded in various situations (open pistol, closed pistol), putting a magazine in and taking it out, how to aim (using a laser to check if we aimed properly), how to move forward and backward, how to hold it in case of an active shooter situation, a demonstration on how to work as a couple during home invasion, and I think that was mostly it.

By theory I meant theory/practice in their center before we went to the shooting range for actual shooting.

I was specifically looking for something very comprehensive as I didn't want to get a gun, 3 minutes of an explanation and start shooting.

Supa said:

Absolutely can relate. We went to a shooting range, the guy showed us a selection of guns and we could shoot them as much as we wanted but had to pay for each round. Although it's not much, it keeps them engaged and they love it.

My Grandfather retired from his accounting firm he founded. Didn't even last a year until he started a new one because he was bored out of his brain.

Recently while trying to acquire more information for a product that I wanted to buy, I had an unpleasant experience dealing with the receptionist over the phone.

Prior to calling the company I had filled up their enquiry form and received reply from one of their salesperson (let's call him X). They don't have the product in their branch and would need to have it transferred from another branch. Not wanting to go back and forth via email, I decided that a short call would settle things quickly and I can place the order and collect it myself afterwards. So I made the call and it went like this:

recep: Hello?
me: Hi I'd like to speak to X
recep: Who are you and what is it about? (yes she said that)
me: I'm a customer and I want to confirm something with him
recep: Have you emailed him? He's busy now

At this point I'm not that keen to get the product anymore. I'm ready to give you the sales and you asked me to send an email first? The receptionist was rude and clueless. She didn't ask for my number or ask me to leave a message. When someone calls and ask for the salesperson, common sense dictates that it's a potential client wanting to get more info or wanting to order something. Yet she acted like the call was from a telemarketing person asking to speak to the director.

This was not the first time I have encounters like this. I remember one time when I call a company the receptionist panicked and hung up my call because she didn't know how to transfer the call to the sales department! Companies need to put in more effort and budget to hire competent front-liners so they don't end up driving the customers away. They play a very important role a first contact point. But most companies would hire the cheapest candidate they can get, not give them proper training and expect good results. If only the management could realize how much potential sales they have driven away due to that.
