Hello everyone. As the title says, I've finished my book recently and I'd like some advice.
First, anything I need to know about copyright and publishing?
I've put some AI generated images in it to make it less "boring", and I'm unsure if I did the right move. On the Internet they say that nobody has copyright over them, so I may be safe; but I might hire an artist and play the even safer route. I know I shouldn't be asking for legal advice, but I just want your opinions on this, especially from guys who've published a book before.
About publishing, I'm completely unaware if I need to invest money (I suppose so) and the general investment (if there's any) authors need to make in order to publish their book. Do I need a (big) sum of money? Let me know.
On to marketing.
How can I properly market my book? I know for sure it doesn't solve a HUGE need, but it might solve a need, indeed. It is a book about both videogame addiction and the type of art behind videogame themselves. I know what my audience would be: parents of addicted children (around age 40-50), but also people who want to know more about videogames or general technology addiction, so even older people (but NOT videogamers or young men and women). There's a problem; it might get a ton more recognition if I publish it in English too, but I've written it in Italian as it is my native language and it should be easier to publish the book in Italy first. Again, I'm completely new to this world, but I read a lot, so, as an author, it might be beneficial to know the strategies to "hook" the reader to the book and grab their attention.
I've thought about starting either a YouTube channel or a blog, with the issue being choosing whether doing it in Italian or "expanding my pond" to the world (doing it in English). The blog/channel would be about explaining single videogame mechanics & types of art forms behind them so as to attract people who thought videogames were "bad" (I'm unsure if this solves a big need or if it is just unnecessary).
I'm genuinely stuck, and I need your help.
By the way, I'm attaching the book cover, which is done by myself, to ask if it is attractive enough to the general public (I will hire an artist for this, but I want to know if the overall structure is acceptable). The title is "Video-game Art" and the subtitle says "the world behind videogames".
Best regards, and I'm thankful for anyone who tries to help.
