Some days I feel like I can take on the world and some other days....not so much. What kind of things do you guys do to turn your down days into up days?

knowing that failure is not an option makes `down days` nonexistent.

this is not to say some days are not challenging, though, because some moments can be extremely challenging, if not downright dark but these are the days that shape our character. One defining moment that remains fresh in my mind was a couple of years ago, when banks starting calling in my loans and vendors were breathing down my neck threatening involuntary bankruptcy, I felt like I was against a wall. I had nowhere to go, nobody to go to and many people were depending on me.

It became personal because my reputation was being threatened and my employees depended on me, not to mention that the banks can be the nastiest scumbags when their receivables become threatened... I dont know what other people would do, but to answer your question again: I envision what shrewd business people would do and emulate their presumed actions.

So, in conclusion, if motive had escaped me, or if there days where I didnt feel like having an `up` day, I would have been slaughtered and taken to the cleaners for everything I had worked for in the last 14 years.

Drive is an innate force.

I still, to this day, clip out things and tape them to my workspace to remind and motivate me to action.

Years ago, I would clip pictures of exotic cars and put them on my computer monitor. It was a constant reminder to act vs dream. Now I have photos of Lear Jets and beach houses.

Other motivating items to clip and post in your workspace: Your kids!! This alone is a great motivating factor to get you to ACT vs DREAM.

Since I don't have children, I have a picture of my mother who is near retirement age. Seeing her and wanting to ensure she has a safe, financially secure retirement is another motivating factor to keep me focused in action vs dreaming.

Point: Take pictures of the things that motivate you - cars, houses, friends, family, children -- put them in your workspace so they constantly remind you of your end goals.

I do the exact same thing! I love quotes, so whenever I come across one that inspires me I clip out a copy and tape it on the wall in my work area.

I don't want to spark a religious debate, but here is one of my favorites:

"Before you tell God how big your problems are, you might instead tell your problems how big God is."

Whenever I read that quote, life seems to come back into perspective.

Great idea, MJ.

Being a new dad, I think you're gonna love being one (eventually). I waited until I was in my mid-40s (just wasn't ready for the commitment before that).

But now-- wow. Easily the coolest, most positive thing I've ever done/experienced in my entire life. Even when she's screaming bloody murder! (which is something I never thought I'd be able to handle, but you do).

-Russ H.

Ps My other motivation is to get done and out (of the rat race) ASAP so I can spend time with my wife and kids (and friends). I don't have an expensive lifestyle (unless you count the love of exotic cars, and homes in CA, and travel around the world, and eating out a lot, and great wines, and having music/movies everywhere in my house). Ahem.

OK, so maybe I do have some pricey preferences. :smxB:

That's why our target is $250K per year, totally passive income (if we pulled the plug right now, we'd be at about $150K per year).

Just a few more years (maybe 3 or 4), then,:banana::banana:

Whenever you feel not motivated, another thing you can do is watch the movie Office Space, and you will feel better that your not one of "those people".

I have a book that I keep all my ideas in when I am feeling a little sluggish I read through it and it re-ignites the drive.

I have recently started a new daily routine. Every morning I workout with weights and then walk 30 minutes on the treadmill. I hate working out and walking but I know I need to. So I a sound system in the room and I play motivational speakers, positive stuff, during my workout. The next step would be to set up some sort of video motivational stuff so it can be both audio and visual. I believe entirely in the power of positive expectations and this starts each day with a positive blast.

Also I subscribe for emails for positive thoughts daily from Mr. Positive.

Sometimes this little email can smooth things out for me. Good luck to all.
