As I wrote in the Unscripted Text Network, in the next 3-5 years, there will be new billionaires created for those entrepreneurs who solve the growing home schooling demand.

Like the "cat is out of the bag" with media bias, the "cat is out of the bag" in terms of institutionalized moronification.

Education needs to be disrupted.

Tom Woods has a lot of cool stuff to say about homeschooling.

Basically, because of the power of technology, you can exchange that 23 year old blue haired commie retard, reading a government approved textbook, for a world reknown mathematician, historian, economist, linguist or writer. Why not learn from the best?

I’m sure @Antifragile is about to swing in and say something like “how do you know who is the best?”

To that I say, it becomes a free and open market, and the best always emerges. Also, anything is an improvement over “the libs of TikTok” groomer F*ckfaces. It’s not hard to be better, “the best” might take some extra effort.

I’ll combine our efforts with a bad a$$ private tutor. I’ll be shocked if my kids don’t finish smarter and more well rounded than the average private school champagne socialist.

I don’t subscribe to the “my tax dollars” outrage. “OMG can you believe the stupid shit they’re spending billions on.” Yes I can, and no I don’t care.

I don't personally expect any kind of return or value for my tax money spent. I view it for what it is. Theft. Like if someone stole an uninsured item from me and was 100% likely to do it again. I don't care how smart the thief is with what used to be my money. I would just be happy to hear he got hit by a bus.

You seem to hate taxation with all your guts yet you choose to stay in Texas instead of moving somewhere where you can pay much less or nothing.

Why tolerate something you hate so much if you can get away from this? Is it because the thing that's making you stay in Texas is of higher priority than taxes? If so, then you can't hate taxation as much.

I'm not asking this because I'm criticizing you but because I'm trying to understand myself as well (different situation but similar behavior). It's a bit weird.

Well of course I hate taxes. That goes without saying. My point was to the people who go around bitching about what “our” tax dollars are paying for. I simply don’t view them as mine. If they were mine, I’d just say no, but I can’t, so they’re not.

I have roots in Texas. Businesses, family, friends, regular stuff I do, a nice house on the golf course.

As an American, I am subject to US taxation everywhere in the world that I go with the exception of two places: Puerto Rico and The USVIs. The law is written, with a tax treaty, that makes me subject to those islands instead.

To change that fact I’d have to renounce citizenship. To do that, I’d have to be a citizen somewhere else.

So I don’t exactly have a billion choices readily available and PR/USVI are still America. Do I want to make the leap today, and enjoy a few good years, only to ride what is still an American territory to a likely Venezuelan level of chaos? I don’t know. Do I want to see it from here, and just move totally out of America once? I don’t know. Would it be nice to get the tax break and also still be able to do business as an American? Hell yeah.

Texas is actually one of the best states in the USA for taxation and personal freedoms. It was decent during the Covid authoritarianism. It continues to be decent. That’s why the “conservatives” from blue states are flocking here.

PR is likely the plan. If things go downhill hard, maybe somewhere else. As of right now, Texas is easy enough not to leave. I suppose they count on that.

On the bright side, the American government still can't round us up and steal all the firearms, per the Supreme Court.

One freedom the USA still has over most other countries. Probably one of the only freedoms.

But hey, it's the one you'd need most in the Boston Massacre, or Tienanmen Square.

The Supreme Court is a regular court with sour cream.

It’s not a right if you have to ask.

“Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.”

I learn by reading & listening to other people. I get my best ideas being silent in a room listening to other people's conversations. This is how I feel on the forum.

I just thought of an entire new market with submarkets & specific services for my business based on this comment. Thank you!

Looking at notes during the day
I have a problem with checking my notes/ plans for the day, I look at them maybe once in the morning and then go off the rails and never check it until writing another in the evening. I have a clean desk but I simply ignore the small white page. Maybe you have a better idea?

What works for you?

Don’t want to start a full thread for that, just wanted to quickly share this small problem of mine.

There's a growing homeschool demand?!? Love hearing that. However, I'm only 85% through Book 1 and already got sidetracked launching a new biz. Best not read Unscripted in 2022 before inventing the 50 hour day.

If that’s all that taxes did, I’d be paying 1/10th of what I’m paying today.

So that's it eh? We pay like a real tax rate of 70% (after all taxes everywhere are factored in) or it's mad Max? Wow, maybe we should actually increase taxes!

I love it when "less taxes" or "smaller government", hell even "don't grow the government as fast" is equal to complete anarchy and murder on the streets.

Just need a little vent.

After a few failures, I have learned how to hire people, how to make a prototype, how to set up a web shop, how not to market. I think I know how to run a profitable business soon. I'm probably wrong lol.
It's so damn hard to pick one thing. When I think I got the right thing to sell, it's riddled with obstacles that either render the idea useless or extrelemy expensive.

Maybe I'm overthinking it, but I don't want to sell something generic I guess. I want to make something new and useful, but it's hard. Maybe I could do alright by dropshipping printed t shirts, but why? I need something more. I have an unscratchable itch that I can't get rid of.

Thank you all for being here. It's all I could dream of and more to see other people strive and achieve, fail and be depressed. The process is showing so clear on this forum, and Im going to be back with mine, just a matter of time. Maybe today, maybe next month.

The top 20% of teachers would leave from the school system, and then it would be apocalyptically F*cked, rather than being quite F*cked.

I'm not sure that's true - there are a lot of teachers that teach because they want to, not to get the highest income. They're not just in the school system because they can't do any better. (And of course, there are some who are.)

Basically, because of the power of technology, you can exchange that 23 year old blue haired commie retard, reading a government approved textbook, for a world reknown mathematician, historian, economist, linguist or writer. Why not learn from the best?

Wow! You have totally alleviated all of my concerns. My point is totally irredeemable now that I see such a blind spot in my intellect. I truly would have never thought of that!

Public school it is! I have come full circle. I now have a conviction that government should raise my son.

Thanks man!

I guess it depends on how you define the "top 20%", and I don't know how your school system differs from the one over here. I've worked with plenty of people who are great at what they do, but totally unable to teach it to anyone else.

Where do you live with an effective tax rate of 70%?

If it's the United States, that simply isn't true. The country's wealthiest people aren't paying taxes anywhere remotely near that rate. Starting with the well known example of Peter Theil's oversized Roth IRA account. Anyone paying 70% is simply too lazy or ignorant to learn how to minimize taxes to an acceptable rate. You can trot out all those conspiracy stats totaling up the endless taxes, but realize they apply to W2 employees. Not business owners and investors. Not people who create wealth.

Yes, taxes have their place. They're used to provide all the benefits of living safely in a modern society. People bitch endlessly about "'paying too much" without considering what's received in return. Sanitation, clean water, agriculture not filled with toxins and bacteria, meat packing products that won't kill you, public libraries, museums, education, auto safety. None of which was true in 1900.
