There is quite a discrepancy between the stats on Google Analytics and my server stats. Which is more reliable?

You can't really compare them. They use different methods of recording visitors etc. In summary though, Google tends to understate stats and AWstats tends to overstate them.

If you use a service like Cloudflare, you'll get more accurate numbers, including the number of spammers (much higher than you'd expect). Cloudflare only gives you basic stats for the free account though.

There's a good article at AWStats Vs Webalizer Vs Google Analytics Visits - Three Reports - All Different if you're interested.
