Just got done with The Millionaire Fastlane , thank you @MJ DeMarco for writing this book and creating this community for entrepreneurs around the world! This book has fundamentally shifted my mindset and what's possible for my life. Can't thank you enough!
Some background on me, I left my Slowlane job back in March to go full-time into a sole proprietorship service business. Long story short, I didn't have any real passion behind this venture and landed into the classic trap of wanting to "be my own boss" and to be honest I was money chasing.
So 7 months have gone by now and as I was reading TMF there was multiple times where I closed the book and said to myself "damn, this is exactly my situation" and not in a good way. I realized that this business violates multiple commandments of the CENTS framework and doesn't align with my business aspirations or vision for my future. I'm looking to keep this business as a side hustle for extra cash here and there, if at all. Oh well, you live and you learn. I'm glad I took the leap into entrepreneurship back then because taking calculated risks isn't that bad at all. It's actually kinda fun.
With this realization, I knew I didn't want to quit on my entrepreneurial dreams but instead needed to regroup and pivot. I'm currently in talks and formulating plans for a new business with a friend that aims to truly help solve customers' problems. Once I've got the idea more solidified I'd love to share it with you all to get some feedback.
These past couple months, I've been trying to shift everything in my world to focus on achieving my goal of being a successful business owner. I've deleted all social media and have been doing all the self-work stuff that I knew I should try but never get around to doing in the past (reading, meditating, journaling and taking action daily).
I've been distancing myself more from my usual friends and family to nurture this reinvention of myself and truly take steps in the direction of the life I want for myself. I've wanted to surround myself with motivated and like-minded people and not be bogged down in the slog of normal people, so naturally I came here.
So as I go back to a Slowlane job this next week I'm going back with clear goals in mind to learn everything about apartments in my new role as a leasing consultant, seek out business opportunities within this industry, upgrade my sales/marketing skills and pay my bills while I continue to build out a new business with my friend.
