I know we have people here from all backgrounds and abilities, so I’m curious to see what others might do if they found themselves in my situation
I am an electrician, specializing in lighting retrofit. I make around $150k per year. I never wanted to be in this career and it’s not a great fit. I’ve worked hard at it and tried to make it work for me, but I go through an existential crisis every time I commute.
I’m 38 and have 4 kids. My wife is very entrepreneurial, on the leadership team of a mortgage brokerage, owning a mortgage processing company, and we just bought a CBD company that sells to people, dogs, and horses.
I hurt by back and can’t work for about a month. I really want to be an entrepreneur, using my own interests and skills to solve a problem that makes money for my family, but I’m starting to feel like that’s just not the way I’m wired.
Were you in my shoes, would you jump in to help run the wife’s businesses? Go back through the books and see if you can identify a problem that you can solve? Something else completely?
