I was hoping to have your honest opinion about what you think is the best job to learn valuable Fastlane skills.
I was never sure of what to pursue in life. Except the aspiration of wanting to do something meaningful like starting some business.
After finishing some master’s in engineering, I became a scientific researcher for a while. I wanted out but didn't know what to do with my life. I needed money to live on my one so, despite always having said that I wouldn’t do it, I enrolled in a PhD.
It sucked, but it served a purpose and out of the misery I lived in, I was able to afford to live on my own as well as saving some money to live with no job for some months (I started saving really hard after reading Slowlane books).
If there were better ways to be where I'm at right now? Most probably. But at the time, it seemed like the only way.
I finished the PhD. I've also made up my mind months before: I was leaving academia. I did not accept a familiar and "safe" offer to keep being a researcher because I wanted to force myself to exit this path and do something with more purpose, which is to start a business.
The problem?
Even after reading some books, including "The M Fastlane" I feel so green, never had a "real job", don’t even know where to start.
Now, because I cannot continue forever without an income, my plan is to get a job as a UX/UI designer and learn valuable skills in web/mobile design to start a business.
Is this a good idea?
What do you think can be a good job where I can learn some valuable skills that make me feel more confident in starting an online business?
Should I prioritize a job where I can learn valuable skills or one that gives me free time or connects me to the right people to dig into this entrepreneurial adventure?
