I was browsing Quora and came across a thread. A young man asked how he could become a millionaire, I noticed MJ's great answer (value) and subsequently followed through to his profile and grabbed a copy of the fast lane book.
My view on everything has changed since then, what an awesome book, thanks MJ. I'm noticing tons of opportunities!
I am 20 years old and I am from London. There was always an idea that I could never be rich if I keep slogging away at my job but I am so relieved to have read MJ's book as I am sure if I hadn't I might never have came to the great conclusions laid out in the book or taken years to come up with them.
The turning point came one day at work.
A project manager took me aside when the bosses were out into the meeting room to give me a bollocking. She told me that she is a superior and what she says goes, if she tells me to do something I must do it.
I did not feel in control of my life, she has asked me to do something that the client had not wanted to be implemented, removed features and took time. It seemed ridiculous to me and her mentality represented everything I hated about the 9-5.
So I quit and was one of the best decisions of my life.
I have managed to demand much higher rates for my time on a freelance basis to other companies. This is great but I knew that I am was never going to get in the Fast lane and become a millionaire by continuing down this path and MJ's book confirmed this.
The Future
My background is in software development / programming and I am fortunate enough to have contacts in China and speak Chinese. My current plan is to get some physical products out there and see where that takes me (E-commerce etc) as well as packaging up virtual goods such as courses to learn from and software.
I am grateful to find a forum with some great knowledge from people who have done it all already!
Can't wait to learn more, apply what I've learned and do as much as I can
