Does anyone have experience with buying outgoing models of electronics from people when the new models launch? Sometimes, manufacturers or retailers do buybacks of existing models or offer discounts on new models in exchange for their old models. How is this profitable? I understand when the old products can be resold at some margin (buy low, sell high) but with electronics, things get outdated pretty fast, and seems like they might have lived their useful life. At least that's the perception people have when the new model is out.
I am looking at a market where the manufactures are pushing new products into the market very fast and are selling millions. There's gotta be a lot of the outdated models that are becoming obsolete pretty quickly. What can be done about these?
