Hi all, long time lurker here, and finally have a reason to post a question!
I'm starting out in freelancing offering tech support, server administration, etc, and got my first gig through an online freelance portal. They are a small technology company based in the US and I am looking after their servers. I have been thinking how I can begin to get more clients, and I will definitely be asking them for a referral but was thinking of contacting other companies who are similar in industry and size. I was thinking of asking my client if I could use their name when approaching these other similar companies.
Is there a particular way to bring this up with them? Also as I have only been working with them for about 2 weeks now, is it too soon to ask? I've been doing good work for them, but is the reasonable time frame you would need to 'prove' yourself to a client before you ask for a testimonial?
