Those of you that have been following me for a while know that I have, over the years, tried some various things to reduce screen time, and train myself to not get sucked into the the intentionally manufactured attention demanding apps and internet.
I am a weird example. I simultaneously marvel at and love the capability of modern smartphones and also understand that they can be used for dumb stuff that doesn't make my life better.
I have done things like try dumber phones and just use an iPad more intentionally. I have tried physically smaller phones. I have tried screen time reminder settings. I have tried making my phone black and white. Right now, I am just trying to use the computer more for more intentional surfing. It's not enough.
All of these things have an effect. Some of them I can live with and some of them just become too inconvenient.
I just ordered the Brick device I keep seeing advertised. Has anyone else tried it? Evidently you can choose the stupid apps that waste your time and it requires you to physically go get the little brick to enable the use on that. Seems like a great tool to have all of what you need and nothing of what you don't.
What kind of things have you done to combat the onslaught of worthless things demanding your attention?
