Part One

I remember as far back as age 15 in school sitting there and thinking what the hell am I doing here, the teacher must have been talking about some Canadian history or something along those lines and at the time and I was thinking I could be making some money right now instead of sitting here listening to this, what I thought at the time was useless ….lol

I figure that’s when it all started , I believe entrepreneurs are born and not really made , I think you are either born to want to be a leader, or born to want to follow the rest falling into corporate America and be a kiss a$$ to the rest of society. I always felt at that young age, that school was not the path I wanted to follow and I didn’t have dreams of being a fireman, or lawyer or anything as a matter of fact but I did look up to people in my family that had business success even though at that young age I still had no concept of what it really was, but I did know that I wanted to run a business at even that young age.

So with that mentality I did make it through high school with just passing grades in most subjects and did really well in anything creative like my art classes and science etc...That’s what I believe they say is a Da’Vinci personality type.

Did you know that virtually all self made millionaires, billionaire’s leaders and captains of industry have the same personality type?

Well there I was in high school trying to figure out what I was going to do with my life, I had no idea what I was going to do with myself , my parents were pushing me to go to college and do something with my life and make up my mind on what I wanted to be. Them not being very positive with my business ideas...I remember telling my dad that all I wanted to do was open a business because I would make much more then if became somebody with a job title and no matter how many times I told my parent this and my mom and dad always found a million reasons to discourage me and push me to get a career of some sort and my dad seemed to decide on a new one for me every week.

During high school I, I ventured into the job market out of need I always liked nice cars and I figured I have to start making some money until I could open a business of some kind to buy my self a car .So I got a job at a bakery, my first part time job I knew from that day on that having a boss was not my thing and I quickly realized that I wanted to own the bakery that I was working at and didn’t want to work in it loll …

My bakery job gave me my first Rude awakening to the job world and what it was like to make money for the owner and I didn’t last there to long just couldn’t bring myself to stay at any job to long and I never lasted more then 6 months at any job I had .

In grade 11 is when my first venture began, I couldn’t hold a job just couldn’t deal with that whole mentality of having a boss and knowing even at that young age that I could do a much better job at running that same business I was working for, and something I remember very well is that every job I had first thing that would run through my mind is how can I open the same business and how much better I would make mine etc.

So my story goes I lived very close to a very high end yacht club and I use to take all my dates to this really nice park down there and do my thing…anyways to make a long story short , my first business was a yacht detailing and cleaning business , being in high school I managed to do most of my work after school and made my appointments during weekends and when the summer came and I was off school I worked all day detailing boats my business grew real fast and I was supper busy and couldn’t keep up so I paid one of my friends to help me out , I did that till my I graduated High school but realized that the work was pretty hard even though I had netted about $110 grand in two years and that was allot of money for me at the time but I was ready to move on…so I sold that business for $40k to a car detailing place who I had be -friended during this time.

At that time I was done high school and my parents were pushing me to go to university and I wasn’t big on the idea, felt it would be a waste of my time, so we agreed that I would take a year off to work or make money then go the following year and I had made a promise to them so I was planning to keep it.

That summer I didn’t do a whole lot to be honest I was always thinking of some new business to start but nothing really had me overly excited and I had learned that creating a job as a business was not exactly what I had in mind …

During that summer I had a lot of time on my hands so I spent allot of time reading motivational books and allot of time on the net I was fascinated with the net , I could see all the opportunity but just couldn’t pin point or focus on anything at the time . But I knew I had to figure out basic web code so I taught myself some very basic code and I was ready to design a site. The one thing I knew was that at the time was that sex on the net was selling and it was big business and any idiot could make money at the time picture sites were very few around maybe a dozen sites max and I knew they had to be making money….

So yes I got into the online porn business ….lol I know allot of you are going to laugh but I knew at the time it was guaranteed to make me money. So I set off to design a very basic site with pictures , and I knew that it was a matter of time before a lot of these sites started to pop up so I had to do it fast , so I went out at the time and got what was really new technology a scanner lol and got all the girlie magazines I could find and started to scan pictures and putting them up on my site and charging $10 a month at the time there was no real merchant options so I was getting money in my mailbox and it was coming fast and a lot of it , 6 months later my mailbox so full of money orders that I was making $30k a month on average, but the trend had caught on and a lot of these porn picture sites were now popping up every where and my sales were about $15K a month but I had branded my site name and it was pretty popular, at the time a porn production company witch some of you may know offered to buy me out so I was happy to let it go , it wasn’t allot of money but I knew I was running a business that had a short life span because things were changing and the big adult companies were getting involved on the net and I was using copy right pictures so I was glad to be out of it before I got burned .. So I ended up selling my site for $180k to this adult company and I was kind of happy,

PART 2 comming shortly

ohh ... great story so far. Can't wait for part two.
I have to admit I too have looked at that "industry" & 10 odd years ago should have set up a site too ... I know of a lady in the US who started a particular type of site, launched on a Thursday and by the following Monday was a millionaire! But my ethics always got in the way :(

Can't wait for Part II

Great story. I know a lot of us on here have the same personality. We're creative, bored at school, and always know how to run a business better than our bosses. Can't wait to read part 2, when are you adding it?

My biggest question with your story thus far is the legality of your website. Isn't scanning in images from magazines and posting them on the internet for profit clear cut copyright infringement?

Thanks guys ......part two will be coming in next couple days when i make time to write it .

Stinger..yes your correct when you read the last paragraph of my story you will see that i talk about the fact that i knew it was copyright images but when the adult business started thats what the first sites were doing until the adult movie business got into it, then they did live photo shoots and had huge budgets and all the talent to fill these sites with material ...This is what we call a paradigm shift in business... I took advantage of the market at the correct time so sometimes timing in business is everything.

I can tell by your story entrepreneuring is in your blood ... we all had our schemes when we were young! A key point I extracted from your story is that you build business assets, work them, and then sell em. Looking forward to part II, especially to see if you stayed in your particular "industry".
