Starting a Toy Business

I want to create stem learning toys. It is possible to be innovative in this market and to differentiate yourself. I have a few ideas on what type of toys to make, but trouble on where to start. I think the best way to start is to build a prototype.

Does anyone have experience building a physical product if yes can you tell me about your journey?

A few ideas to help me get started is to have the prototype 3d printed or possible have a manufacturer from Alibaba create my product. Let me know what you think about this.

I am a Mechanical Designer by occupation and here is just my 50c.

Learn how to use Solidworks by watching tutorials. Make a model, drawing, whatever you need - bring it to the local engineering company and ask if they can make a prototype for you. You could always hire a designer on Fiver, but if you can learn it yourself - it will be easy for you to make changes to the product on the spot and better communicate what you want your prototype to look like to a manufacturer.

There is a good thread on a forum from Vick on how he manufactured his own brand of sunglasses.
