Simple Idea...tough execution?

So I have a website idea, but very little knowledge of how to start it ...I am not even sure where to start researching this aside from reading everything I can (process)

It seems like a straightforward problem, but I am not sure of the best way to solve it. I don't really know any website designers I can trust, and I'm not sure if it's even possible to create enough value for the customer.

How could someone take a raw idea such as mine, and determine its feasibility without too much risk of losing it?
