JasonR. I hate when people answer questions with "it depends" when you are just trying to get a feel for how a city is, but it depends. Unlike cities in the Midwest that have a more homogenous culture, SD is made up of a lot of different sub cultures. Depending on whether you are single or married, rich or poor, young or old you will find your experience will vary a lot.

Overall though it is pretty cool. There is a lot of stuff to do here and it is less of a rat race than LA. I've lived in lots of places in California and I've found that any place you live here, there are going to be some amazing things with some pretty bad drawbacks.


What I love the most about SD:
It is very easy to meet people. A lot of people aren't from here, so people are more open to talking to someone new.


What I hate the most about SD:
People that live here tend to be transient, meaning that they want to live it up here as long as they can but eventually they move somewhere else. There are college kids who just want to party, military guys here for a few months, tourists, super rich people, etc. So a lot of the people you grow close with end up moving away.
