Hey guys I got these numbers back from a publisher for a book my wife has written. Just wanted to see if any of you have any experience with publishers and if these numbers seem low, average. This is her first book. Thanks. Any other advise or resources for us to help during this process would be great. In addition they want her to delay doing an audible book for eight months. This seems like a scarcity mindset instead of an abundance mindset. I know with using a publisher we do not have control but this is a learning experience now and we plan to learn from this and push to control in the future as MJ is done with his publishing company and his books. Thanks again.

Looks pretty standard to me.

In addition they want her to delay doing an audible book for eight months.

This is silly. After eight months nobody will care about the audiobook which is probably why they're delaying it (because they don't want to risk any money). If this is in a niche where audiobook sales provide a large percentage of revenue, even worse.

That's why I think that traditional publishing is largely a scam for authors. You beg countless people to publish your book only for them to do the least possible to help your book succeed.

Exactly. Again their mindset is off. Good points
