The unfortunate thing about this space and the unfolding legalization + decriminalization: After a deep dive on it, I ascertained that it was a gated, closed-system -- in other words, only those with the right political connections were the ones who would make the big $$$. So as things evolved, I viewed cannabis as a political opportunity, not an entrepreneurial one.

I agree with that. The only ones really making money are the government with taxes and massive corporations who can buy or produce in bulk, strong arm stores and can wait out federal legalization. Once the product can cross state lines corporations are gonna dominate and all these mom and pas will get final blow. Illinois is good example of limited licenses and corporations with connections getting the ticket for a seat and massive profits with lack of supply.

My demise was more issues with smaller local players as Oklahoma has huge amounts of ma and pas who got in with $2500 licenses that had no restrictions with the amount granted at first but they put a cap after things got out of control with organized crime using as fronts. But I wouldnt be surprised the scammer couple I mentioned has protection from politicians as they are way too shady and known for their SOP to be going strong for so long in the open.
