Sometimes I hate being skinny. I recently lost 2-3 pant sizes, and still weight the same (thanks cleaner diet and exercise!). That puts me in a pretty small waist size which I am not going to say because I find it embarrassing to say out loud. However, finding shorts and such in this size is BRUTAL!!! Everything seems to be 34 and larger to be in any quantity. Get down to my size and its like 2 pairs to choose from that have been on the shelf since 1990.

Are you a chick or a dude?

if chick: Strong Curves: A Woman's Guide to Building a Better Butt and Body: Contreras MS CSCS, Bret, Davis, Kellie: 9781936608645: Amazon.com: Books

I am a guy, and the reason for my pants drop is that I put on about 15lbs of muscle and lost the equivalent in fat, which must have all been hiding around my midsection since none of my pants fit me.

Prior to packing on some muscle, 170lbs and 6'. Currently, still the same height and still 170lbs. Down 2 notches on my belt and 2 pant size numbers.

Really disappointed with the shitty attitude of Malaysian folks when they comment on our athletes in the Olympics.

We are supposed to cheer them on...but WTF do we have here?

When our female badminton player Goh Liu Ying lost, folks were asking her to retire to start a family.

When our top gymnast Farah Ann popped out, folks started taking shots at her 'sexy attire'.

When Lee Zii Jia got beat by Chen Long in badminton today, I'm seeing folks comment 'he's too timid'.

I mean...what the flying F*ck???
Look at every top athlete in human history... they get better by playing more matches against bigger players!
There's plenty of global competitions besides Olympics as well-some which I argue might be more meaningful.

And what do you mean the gymnast attire is 'too sexy'?
Everyone's using it...and it's designed for the sport! What other F*cking dirty shit are you thinking, you horny bastards?

And timid? All our national athletes were picked for a reason...not you, and not me.
They didn't get there by being timid.
I read Lee Zii Jia's profile, and he suffered from personal and financial problems for a long time.
And for him to continue playing is a triumph indeed! He just needs more time and mastery, just as any sports practitioner does.

Apparently some Malaysians have some stupid glory-hogging attitudes as well.
When Filipino weight-lifter Hidilyn Diaz won the Phillipines' first gold medal, the Health Ministry started taking credit for it on Facebook since she trained in Malaysia during the 2020 COVID lockdowns.

Started claiming the Health Minister was the brilliant mastermind behind all the equipment and medicines and whatever to help her.

Very few noted how Diaz had to battle homesickness while stuck in Malaysia, train amidst gym lockdowns, delay her own career and studies for the sport:

This is legendary Fastlane attitude here. Hard work. Using whatever scanty equipment to train. Why can't local weightlifters produce similar results with the same environment? It's because she CHOSE how she would train and keep her spirits on her own- something that no bloody Ministry can ever do for her.

I encourage all athletes to continue working hard to achieve their dreams.
But the toxicity of Malaysian viewers and Ministries is what makes me hardly watch sports at all.

I’ve been ranting about this for years. Seems North America is so fat that clothes aren’t designed to fit normal sized people anymore.

I just had what I think is my 4th FTE moment today. It's time. I need to sit down tonight and figure out what the hell I'm doing with my life.

My biggest hurdle with starting something is that I'm kinda good at a lot of things. I'm not an expert in anything. I'm a halfway decent handyman, I can also code a little and been in sales a long time. So I'm not the "go to" for any one topic, so I get paralyzed on what to do because whatever I pick I'd have to study and research more before I'd have the ability to help anyone.

My wife has a graphic design business and develops websites. She has to freelance out all her web development, so I've thought about learning that but I'm not to the level that I could take it over. I've thought about getting some Udemy courses on web development but it's just additional time.

Plus I can't just quit my day job. Whatever I do I'd have to build it up enough to almost match what I'm bringing home so I can pull the plug.

This whole COVID thing has made me very sensitive to negativity again which is great. Its been a while since I have had such sensations. Seeing all these news websites with negativity front and center I am limiting my time on them and only check what is interesting or cool with some news update though not as much anymore. I cannot remember the last time I ever found a website that had news even if a little neutral in tone and perception that was not a front page source of the most negative stuff you can read. I'll have to go searching or stumble upon a nice website of news with some sort of positivity out there. Here it is nice for business chatter and anything else discussion worthy and that I am thankful for.

After not eating at Timmies (@Kak lol) for nearly 3 years, we got some on the way out of town this morning to a lake.

They used to make fresh bagels and doughnuts every day right in store. Now it's all frozen garbage made in a factory 2000km away and shipped everywhere for "consistency".

It was disgusting. I ordered an iced Capp which they put a paper straw in. Not only did it taste gross, but my paper straw stuck to my lips, had a nasty texture and flavor, and melted into a soggy mess into my drink after 5 minutes.

My choices for bagel were "everything or plain". I guess sesame seed is too exotic for them now. The herb and garlic cream cheese tasted like dollar store special that had been left in the sun for 3 days. My wife's chocolate dipped doughnut was so sweet she couldn't even eat any of the top of it and threw most of it out.

This is the last time we ever eat a Tim Hortons, as all they have accomplished is make it consistently terrible.

Worth thinking about the concept of becoming a "specialised generalist" as I once heard Tim Ferris say. As a random example, I could be good but not one of the best at making videos, and I could be good but not one of the best at teaching others about wild foods, but perhaps I could combine these skills to be one of the best/an "expert" at making videos teaching people about wild food. You aren't the best handyman, or the best coder, but you are probably the best "handyman who can code". Obviously in this case it's a useless thing as no one would want that! But point is, think about if/how you could combine any skills to effectively increase your expertise.

In other words,

Government will use PayPal to ban any business or organization that promotes a counter-political view that opposes the establishment.

Let’s be real here: the racist bigot thing is a scapegoat for controlling society.
Yeah its not cool the way things are being done. To give them credit all these orgs really do want harmony between everyone and I am actually surprised they mean it with the whole diversity stuff. The problem lies in just being so controlling.

That said the same people supporting this sort of stuff today may end up being on the receiving end if they are not down with whatever happens later on or there is some sort of change of plans. As we can see from the US Gov declaration for federal workers to get vaxxed it eventually does come back to them.

Today I ate like a pig. Going to get a big dinner now and tub of ice-cream. That's how you fix the "pants don't fit healthy people" problem.

Today my mum asked me to help clean the house.

Although it was FIVE days after we did an entire spring-clean, I begrudgingly went to do it.

Was using the cordless vacuum cleaner at the top floor. I pushed the vacuum at a chair hurriedly, and the connector at the dust compartment broke apart!

Checked it and it seems there was enough force to break two thin screws that were the only ones to hold the compartment and connector together.

Now I can do two things:
1. Hide the broken vacuum, lie to my mum like a spoiled brat that all work’s done, repair it later

2. Own up, and offer to repair it, or get a replacement vacuum out of my pocket (won’t be cheap, but that’s that)

I did the second.

She turned on me and berated me heavily for ‘showing a complaining attitude while cleaning’ and ‘how she can’t trust me with anything’.

Look, I help to clean although I don’t like it. Plenty of people do good work with little love for the work…are you saying I must take drugs to go work with a shit-smile?

And the fact I owned up and offered to mend/replace the vacuum shows I am willing to solve problems and take responsibility. Is that not what you want to see in someone you trust?

Sure, I may have treated that vacuum roughly…but things don’t last these days.

The rest of the evening just went as cold as winter.

But I kept searching for solutions.

Later, I checked Shopee, and found I could buy a spare part for the same model. For just a hundred bucks. One-tenth the cost of a new vacuum.

I would not need to buy a new vacuum. I also would not need to attempt to DIY super-glue that part, as it wouldn’t last.

I suggested it to my mum, and she just remarked, ‘See, I know you’ll always solve things with money’

I was livid!

1. This is the first time in my 20+ years of life that a vacuum broke under me.

2. I took time to check numerous models and shopfronts, and even thought of the spare parts idea instead of blowing cash on a full vacuum model.

Getting a new connector would allow me to keep the entire vacuum- engine and all.

3. On solving things with money…does buying online course count? Then I guess I’m guilty of that mum.

Either my mum is in a bad mood that passes, or she does not appreciate her son’s efforts.

If she prefers a son who lies and hides bad things from her-instead of being truthful and fixing them up….how the F*ck did she raise me from young?

I have cousins and friends who just ran away from their problems. Bad grades? Just keep ignoring them. Failed relationship? Just run away from home and college. Busted parents’ car? Just get them to pay for it.

And here I go fix a vacuum I broke, as best as I can…and I am treated on a similar criminal level.

Doing chores and mending for your mistakes is a son’s duty that is nothing super, but today I wonder if parents truly appreciate it.

I estimate that 80% of us Fastlaners here have parents who have something wrong with their attitudes…which says something about how our initial mental struggles to work our Fastlane.

Very disappointed with my mum, it’s not the first time such shit happened. Very sad state of parenthood these days.
