Question for automating an availability calendar

I need some help brainstorming how to sync up two different availability calendars.

The issue we are trying to avoid is that over double-booking a vacation rental property. Currently, owners and property mangers have their properties listed on our site as well as their own. Our site takes reservations for them automatically, and then emails them the reservation details. However, it is up to them to update our calendar with the bookings they are taking for their property through their site, as well as update their calendar with the emails of the bookings we've gotten for them.

I was kinda thinking that maybe (and I don't even know if this is possible) we could get them to install an RSS feature on the calendar, so when they take a booking we are aware of it and update our own calendar, and maybe we could get them to give us the user and pass to their calendar so we could update their calendar for them. ...We will be handling money for them and other personal info, so a user and pass for a calendar shouldn't be that big of a deal.

That's about the best my brain can do as far as thinking up solutions for making the calendars work. Does anyone else have any ideas?
