So through my research on SEO and trying to figure out how to get organic traffic to my website... I've come to the conclusion that backlinks are very important. I've also learned that one way you can get backlinks is by writing articles and submitting them to article directories, and leaving your backlink in the proper section. However I've also read that submitting articles to directories isn't as effective as it used to be. (In your opinion, is this true?)
I also know that you want to post your backlinks on authority websites. My question is... say I leave a backlink in a comment for a related article on yahoo or youtube or wherever... does this count as a backlink on an authority site? The whole point of getting backlinks is so the google bots will crawl your site more frequently, and hopefully boost your site in terms of Page Rank. Correct?
