Weekly Update


This week has been rough. I’ve been sick most of the week, so I only managed the bare minimum: sending my daily outreach messages and doing follow-ups.


On top of that, I got hit with the usual frustrations at my day job:

• A pay raise that still undervalues the work I do.
• More of the same politics when it comes to promotions, it feels like playing the game matters more than actual performance.

I have applied for a few management roles during the past year, but once again those went to close friends of leadership or people who play politics. The official feedback I got was that “You know the process to well and leaders should focus on people, not processes.”

But the reality is that I know the processes inside out, and instead of seeing that as a strength, they treat it like a weakness. The real issue is they already have leaders who struggle to delegate, and someone who actually understands the process risks exposing those gaps.

It’s draining. I used to love going to work, but lately I dread it and sometimes worry about being stuck there forever.


That’s my rant for the week. Being sick and discouraged at work isn’t a great combo. But if nothing else, it fuels me. Every disappointment just adds to my drive to keep building this venture. It still feels miles away, but it’s the only path that excites me.
