Hi Guys,
Would highly appreciate if you could please advise on this business idea.
I am thinking of creating a product to target this year's Halloween. The product would be in the form of an e-book/videos (or both) to help customers make their own Halloween costumes instead of buying from stores. There's a good amount of searches for this and while I am not very sure if they are looking only for free information, I may go ahead and take the risk of presenting a paid product in front of them.
My competition: the first page of google has a lot of established sites (think Yahoo, Martha Stewart etc.) which have a few articles on the theme, but nothing too comprehensive. With some aggressive SEO and perhaps PPC, I may be able to creep in to the top 10 rankings.
My challenges:
-Should I go for an e-book or a video or a combo? I think people would prefer "How to" videos instead of written instructions, but that will mean I'll have to outsource the video creation and use an American/European guy or girl (since the target market is US and Europe) making (stitching) each costume and wearing it at the end of each video (each video could be done in less than 10 mins.) . Thoughts and budget I should have for this? Do you have any recommendations for the video part? I was thinking of checking in an outsourcing site like Fiverr or perhaps Odesk.
-How do I finalize the costumes to cover in the product? I am thinking the top 20 most popular costumes of the last few years? Still not sure whether to cover adult costumes or kids' or maybe both?
-I have very less time to finish the product and put it on the marketplace (most probably on a digital platform like Clickbank) as Halloween is fast approaching (Oct 31st) and this will be my first experience with creating my own product. Should I still go for it? I have the budget to outsource most of the activities, in fact plan to use outsourcing as an indispensable part of my business.
