So this is my very first 'entrepreneurship' venture. And certainly not my last.
I decided to go the 'low cost' route, and open a small shop via shopify lite.
This took me way longer than it looks, primarily because I have zero experience in this, and even the shopify thing was a pain and required a learning curve.

I'm mainly testing out the business / advertisement algorithm at this stage.

Please take a look and critique my shop (hope that's allowed here):

Currently, I'm only running facebook ads.

What do you think?
If you were looking for halloween supplies, would you buy from me?
Why or why not? (don't be afraid to be brutally honest!)

I think I've honestly seen this ad in my feed. That mask is very familiar. I went ahead and liked the page. I am curious how this goes and I am also trying to set up a Facebook sales page.

It's cool. I like the graphic up top a lot.

Products definitely have that "Made In China" vibe.

Thanks a lot :)
Please share if possible- dunno if I'm asking for too much here.
But if I manage to get sales, I'll post ALL the stats on here, e.g. what ads i used, how much i spent, revenue, other insights etc.

What I find annoying, is that it only shows ones line of my collections at the top.
I've tried sharing each collection manually on my front page, but it just won't load up that way!! If i was a passerby, I'd conclude that this shop doesn't have many products and move on!

Let's keep each other posted!

One of the first questions will be:
Delivery time?

If you can always answer that above the fold, it helps.

Less than two weeks (supposedly).
I've deliberately chosen from sellers who offer multiple shipping options, as time is more sensitive the closer to halloween it is, wouldn't want anyone who receives their product after halloween :/ I'd do the right thing and refund if it did.

I get a dropshippy vibe from the products.

The only think I like really is the graphic up top

I probably wouldn't order from here as I could just to Amazon and get free 2-day shipping.

But it's good for practice.

Echoing @ChrisV 's sentiments.

Good practice run. Figuring out how all of the parts work etc. The products, as marketed presently, are mostly impulse buy category, where the only way of selling would be expensive interruption advertising that allowed a one click buy.

There's no positive differentiation between the offerings here and a cash and carry pop up Halloween store, or 2 day free shipping on Amazon.

Still, figuring out how the set up works for the big show (when you're ready to put some real value out there and build a brand), what ways to promote, all the nuts and bolts, etc will be a worthwhile exercise. Just don't throw a lot of money at this particular venture.

And definitely DON'T do that. There's hundreds of lurkers on here that are just waiting to knock off ANYTHING that they see making money.

You can share a bit on the inside since most people there can afford the $100 a year and are busy doing their own thing. I wouldn't share anything that specific on the outside.

As @AgainstAllOdds has said keep the rest to yourself. As you published the site url the unseen vultures will be circling if they smell an opportunity to make an easy buck.

Unfortunately it’s happened in the past. Better safe than sorry.

Agree.
But I also think my prices are reasonable. I mean, I'm not trying to sell a cheap china product at Neiman Marcus price :p

I think there's a market for cheap stuff, though, as some definitely appreciate a bargain. That's why I don't want to open a proper store to sell what i'm selling. 1) It'll be obsolete til next halloween 2) the margins just aren't high enough for me to justify opening it

Just checked out wish.com- that's a straight dropshipping site. I've seen many of those products. And the fact that they make you sign up before you can even properly browse their products is annoying as holy hell!

EDIT: From what I've seen, Amazon prices will be more marked up ;)

Looks nice but I personally would not buy off a Facebook shop.

Do you think facebook shops look less reliable / trustworthy in general?

I remember reading a thread where there was someone who started off selling t-shirts off facebook, and it did well.
I guess I put my current products in a similar category- impulse, 'whatever-just-for-a-laugh' buy category.

So far, I've two one abandoned checkouts, and that's it.
At least I know I was CLOSE to making a sale with a low-effort / investment shop, so I know this thing isn't impossible.

Great job for a first time.
You should run a like campaign to build some trust.

Never forget that: An e-commerce store make money with their database.
Building an email list should be your first priority. The money is in the list.

Feel free to read How to build a successful online business, without relying on any third party (Ecommerce)

Best of luck for your project, you're on the right path!

How do I run a like campaign?

Fortunately, I have emails based on the abandoned check outs. Do you mean I should start building an email database and market to the same ppl even if I'm selling something entirely different later on?

EDIT: I actually listed one of the items on a free site, and at least 5 agreed to buy. They changed their mind when I told them it needs to be ordered & they will need to pay first, lol. So it's not like people don't want the product, but a matter of trust I guess.

Yeah it doesn't feel legit to me, but that's just one persons opinion. I'm sure a lot of people would buy.
