What is the future of plastic industry?

Going to be kicked out or will thrive in coming years?

There's no way it's dying any time soon. The only change is the source from what the plastic is made from. New technologies are able to make plastic from plants.

I agree the it is unlikely to die anytime soon. There will, however, also likely be increasing focus on the "reduce, reuse recycle" issues- particularly as government legislation comes into force.

Absolutely. We manufacture plastic for industrial use and I’m trying to get this “reduce, recycle and reuse” mantra. Need to change machinery+develop a recycling method.
Thanks for your reply.

I've dabbled in TDA and MDA polyols and tried to compete with Momentive and sell them to BASF in Shanghai.

I'd say the future is very strong. I like the way you think.

Where 2000 people are selling lamps on Amazon, some raw material suppliers have a virtual monopoly. Food for thought.

As long as people prefer to use a plastic spoon rather than wash a dish, I think the industry will do just fine.

Every "recyclable" product I've been offered comes at 1.5x-2x the cost. No thanks.
