When I read MJ's post a couple weeks ago about his natural high he had when he fixed the leak in his fountain and then went on to build a bridge for his backyard. While I understood his feeling of stepping outside of his element and accomplishing something that he's not used to facing, while I thought that was cool the he and the others that posted to his topic experienced things like it, to be honest I didn't really understand it...until this weekend.
While I consider myself mechanically inclined, one thing that has always stumped me was the idea of sanding something to make it shiny again. I was watching this video the other day on youtube about wet sanding a clear coat and then polishing it to make it shiny. That got me thinking about my wife's car. She has a 2003 Mustang, and the headlights look hideous on it, they were super foggy/hazy, and I had tried cleaning them before but with no luck. So yesterday I ran up to good ol' Wal-Mart, spent about 30 bucks for supplies came home, took her headlights out of her car and sat in my garage with my favorite radio station on and got to work. Several hours later my wife has a set of crystal clear headlights back in her, and I'm sitting on cloud nine.
I reckon the point I'm trying to make is in a way I understand now how MJ, and the others that posted in that post felt when they accomplished there new tasks. It's an awesome feeling and sense of accomplishment to sit back and stare at those clear headlights knowing that my wife will be a bit more safer while driving at night, and I got a "done good" from her, and my own feelings. Now I have to find something else to get into to reach to new heights, I think I'm gonna go start working on this one invention I thought of a couple of years ago.
