Well hello, eh!
Typing from north of the border (no, I'm not sitting in an Igloo nor on a Polar Bear - though that would make the coolest into ever!) and saying hello...eh.
What about me... I too found this forum by coincidence, like many others, and was intruiged. I bought the book and after just a few days have read nearly all of it. Indeed it was like an old friend punched me in the face (hm..not sure why an old friend would do that..but I digress) and shook me.
I had been on the entrepreneurial side many years ago and foolishly sold a business to enter the world of public service (I am a LEO - 16 years in) but never dropped the spirit to keep on going. I have run a few small ventures but never really persued any of them with any rigor - truth is (was) that I am making a good living and get paid enough to really not want to do much else.. Or so I told myself.
Last year, Summer time, an idea hit me.. The pull was strong but I put it aside in my mind didn't give it much more thought; then, come late Summer it struck me again and really seemed to resonate - so much so that I followed through with it.
I started a clothing biz - and went from thought to concept to having a large order arrive within about 6 weeks. TMd the name, design and created an EC site on shopify; within 2 months a couple of stores bought some clothing to sell.
I am still in the warm up stages and have a lot of work ahead of me, but I realized that while I enjoy my 5-2 (not entirely true; I enjoy the folks I work with and I get satisfaction putting some of Society's worst away) but it will never give me what I truly desire: the Fs.
I believe that the biz I started has the potential to allow me to pursue it full time, however it needs to be generating more than what it is now to allow me to do that (I am still not showing profit given the startup costs incl. inventory and ongoing ad expenses.)
I am looking forward to spending time here to gain some insights on how to further solidify my dreams and pursue it full time.
