Why do people always use the word "lurker" when introducing themselves on forums? Isn't there another word we can start using instead of "newbie" and long-time "lurker"??

I am glad to be the grumpy observer on the forum today.

Besides that, hope you enjoy the forum....

Well... a lurker is just someone who browsed the forum a bit before joining.
Introducing yourself as one just lets everyone know that you might be a bit familiar with the general rules, what types of discussions are had and how the forum works.

I don't see anything wrong with using the term.

I guess if you want to be scripted and talk like everyone else, sure it's fine......The English language is very large. I've seen that word used a million times by people on different forums. Group Think is everywhere. Yes, it bugs me, yes, I'm on a soap box....Oh well......
