Hi everyone! I'm new here - just read the book a few days ago (couldn't put it down!) I'm married with three kids with another baby on the way. I've been a stay at home mom for six years, but all this time I've been a closet entrepreneur. I just didn't know it was okay to go for it. My whole life I've been told to do something good, that matters, that makes a difference. I took that advice to mean "go work for a non-profit." Which is what I did until the soul-crushing banality of the job wore me down and I quit to stay home when my oldest was born. My husband has worked in the Slowlane all this time (for the government) and I thought I was supposed to wait until all my kids are 5 or 6 then go back to work 9-5, doing something "good" for the world. That future has seemed depressing all along and FINALLY I realized why! It's not the right path! There is more out there! And it's okay to make money. It's not bad, it's not evil, it's not selling out. Whew. What a relief. My husband is...supportive, kind of skeptical, but mostly supportive. I need an outlet, and he knows that, so he's glad.
I've had ideas in my head for years and this book is just letting me get them out. So, first - a website that provides much needed information to my city. I have a lot of questions and will post those on the appropriate forums, but I wanted to introduce myself.
So glad to be here! Thanks!
