You shouldn't worry about people stealing your ideas, people don't want to do other people's ideas, they wanna do THEIR ideas.

Thats one of the most common mistakes people make, is keeping a closed lid about it. You should be talking about it openly, that is how you will meet the right people and make the right connections. Of course there's always the exception of not talking about it with direct competitors who have the actual means to more rapidly implement your idea.

But for some random web designer, they will have no F*cking interest in your idea. They could give a rats a$$ about it to be honest they just want to get paid to build the site you need, period.

I agree. I think you put more thought into it than what the developer will. If he/she is an established developer then they've already seen a bunch of "secret" niches.

Hey email me @ w.james2112@yahoo.com

I can build your website for you, and for cheap to. If your realy interested email me. We can discuss more then.

I realy look forward to hearing from you.... Thank you

Will someone coding the thing even know it's purpose? You don't actually have to disclose to the coder your business plan, do you?

Just ask him to code this feature and that feature, etc.

NDA - yeah if it's a local coder within your country, otherwise it's kind of irrelevant.

It's at the moment when you ask them to buy that the truth reveals itself.

I made this mistake many times early in my ventures. Asked people's opinion, but not for the order when testing. Bad mistake. People don't know what they want, they know once they see it and you know once they spend money on it in sufficient quantity.

I'm in a similar situation, and my website is one of the more complex you could build.

However I feel a solid knowledge of at least the basics is needed if you are to run such a business, and although i fully expect to have someone on the payroll to build and maintain the website, i plan to first learn and build it myself, if anything just to see if its a realistic option for myself to build it, and in turn learn at least the basics so that if anything does go wrong, you have a fighting chance of fixing it yourself, and so far, Its a lot easier than initially thought.

Its the same with anything, if you don't know how something works, your more inclined to have someone "qualified" do it for you, and in turn, pay for it, every time you need something. However once you see and know how its all done, there's no reason why you cannot do it yourself (unless time is a factor) and probably to a higher standard as you know the ins and outs of exactly what it is you need.
