Ever since I agreed to sign up for this course at my high school (entrepreneurship), I have continued to regret it.
Here's an outline of what we have done so far (with two months left in the scholastic year)
1. Decided on a theoretical business to start.
2. Created a Business plan.
3. Created a detailed floor plan with exact dimensions. (I found this absurd)
4. Priced the Equipment. (I mean come on!)
5. Created a Revenue sheet. (All of my teacher's figures were wrong, and he refused to admit so, even after I obtained a written note from an accountant.)
6. Created another Revenue sheet.
7. A cash flow sheet. (It was actually more confusing than Rich dad's cash flow 202.)
8. We created an ad, advertising our companies product or service. (He continually mentions that advertising is more important than your actual product, which I find to be an absurd load of BS. Costco has never spent a dime on advertising.)
9. He also claims that you need to do all the accounting and advertising yourself. That is another load of BS. So many successful people mention that you should outsource work to competent people who know more about the certain subject.
10. He had us forecast sales.
11. We are now working on obtaining permits and some stupidities.
We have never explored the importance of providing a quality product or service to our customers. Nor have we ever discussed the attitude involved in being an entrepreneur, and the amount of work involved in preparing the company. All we do is numbers, numbers, numbers.
I'm a very independent person, and I am not one to roll over and take BS. Therefore I have actually created my own coarse curriculum and am currently "teaching" 9 out of the 25 people in our class.
One of my lessons involved a "2008 Investors Guide" edition of Fortune or Forbes magazine. (I can't remember). Anyway, my teacher proceeded to confiscate it, declaring it "irrelevant to the class".
An amusing thing that he's done to me is change the password to my personal account to "dimwit". Anyway, one of my friends sought revenge on him by posting my teachers head on a naked body. He then printed out something like a 1000 copies and distributed them around the school. (I love my friends).
From what I've written, do you think his teachings/method are right? Being an entrepreneur is not just about numbers, and it's safe to say he's no entrepreneur. I don't even pay attention to his lessons yet I still have the highest grade in the class. (99%). How can I possibly stay sane in a class run by a pompous idiot?
Also, 95% of my class can't even spell Entrepreneur.
