Mobile app research

Does anyone have any resources that they use to do market research on mobile apps other than the app store itself? I'm looking to use these statistics to maximize the probability of profiting. Things like popularity of category, average price per category, percentage of free apps vs paid vs freemium, percentage of user using iOS 5+, etc. All of the research I've done thus far just leads me to blogs with inconsistent statistics.
