Hi,
we have seen a lot of alternatives to the groupon-concept, but please give ur comments on the following..
In Europe we are still just seeing the "beginning" of this business and all the different versions are still yet to come, hence we are considering different options.
Have u experienced a site, which only had offers from webshops? I know its a issue that u lose the "Local"-aspect of the concept, but it gives u the opportunity to reach the entire country with one offer and "everybody" seems to like a daily offer. At the same time u can keep the expenses down, because u don't need to start up in every city. (on the other hand it limits ur growth-options)
What do u think?
I see different issues..
A lot of webshops do not have a high profit, so it might be difficult to give 50 % discount.
U need to find a specific segment and the most obvious is of course the same as all the other "daily-offer" sites, so u will still enter a market with high competition.
Have u seen the same "version" in other countries?
Most people we see on these discount sites prefer cheap services such as "spas, resturants.. etc. wouldn't there be a huge limitation on the services/ products being offered?
Yes, maybe..
But the most sites focus on women in the age of 20-40.
Would it be possible to start a site focusing on men? In which countries have you seen that? (Not a unique idea -I know that).
The products could still be from webshops such as,
movies,
clothes
accessories,
travels,
photo printing,
fuel cards
etc.
What do you think? The market is still new here, but I dont want to be a direct competitor to the "big" sites. The site is ready - I just need to decide on a segment.
Thanks, Jakob
