The first week of December 2011 I formed an LLC with myself being the sole member and I put the "end of year date" as December 31st. In 2011 I did not make any money and from my research so far, it appears I have to file my tax return even though I did not turn a profit.
I went to the IRS website ( Which Forms Must I File? ), and the following looks as if it applies to me:
"Only member of LLC is an individual - LLC income and expenses are reported on Form 1040, Schedule C, E, or F. If you prefer to file as a corporation, Form 8832 must be submitted."
So from what I gather, I have to file Form 1040 ( http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040.pdf ) by April 15th even though I did not turn a profit.
Am I missing something here, or does this sound correct? After looking at the form, it looks like an individual return.
Thanks in advance for any help with this.
EDIT: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040sc.pdf This is not the individual form and looks like what I should use.
