I really like the whole minimalist movement, and watch a few youtube channels run by people who live in their vans. One guy, who had a normal life before his wife divorced him, decided to start over by pursuing his dream to make a movie about motorcycle racers.
He's spent the last few years living out of his van, supporting himself by being a roving photographer for motorcycle magazines. In his off time, he films and edits his project, a movie called "Out of Nothing". The movie is about these guys who race motorcycles on the Bonneville flats, using motorcycles made only from donated parts. He is trying to film this story as a labor of love, which is probably "slow lane", but one day he will own all the rights to a film that might get licensed for distribution, which I believe is "fast lane".
In his videos, he has mentioned how the motorcycles, and now his movie, are a parable for his own life - since after his divorce, he had to rebuild his life "out of nothing". If he can pay his two kids child-support, pay his health insurance, and maintain his van, while pursuing his dream - I think a lot more people can, if only they tried.
