Hi everybody,
I read TMF about a year ago and I thought it was remarkable. I just recently saw that MJ had released a second book, so of course I grabbed a copy of that (currently about 25% of the way through). I've been reading the forums here the last week and I'm amazed at how much knowledge there is on offer.
Now, you're right to ask: this guy read TMF a year ago and he's still reading and not doing? Sadly, yes.
I'd love to blame this on "too busy" or "damn kids", which is partly true. But I've come to understand that blunt is best, and the honest truth is that I'm still shaking off years (decades) of the sidewalk mindset. I won't bore everyone with details, though I don't imagine I'll need to. You know me already, I'm that guy that always has IDEAS and is motivated to work on them for about 18 hours before things slip back to normal distraction.
There's a lot of energy and good will on this site, and I feel it every time I read one of your success stories. I want to be one of you, giving back.
The good news: I saw through much of the BS about hard work and saving and consumer culture when I was still in my 20s, even though I didn't have the spirit to do something positive with that knowledge. I'm sitting on a decent-sized nest-egg which is just begging to be put to productive use.
My years of eclectic unemployability have left me with a decent range of skills (for example, I'm handy with a terminal, a Linux web server, and Wordpress, and I've spent the last year amassing and even occasionally reading a library of classic copywriting books). I even once ran a fitness business and blog that was modestly popular and had a surprisingly successful Kindle book come out of it. Then I turned my back on the whole thing instead of building it out -- you can see that I'm in need of help.
If I could just manage my ADD and introvert's awkward social skills I'd be golden.
