I made a commitment with myself to pick one idea, and focus purely on that. On top of that, I'd post whatever (no matter how embarassing, like this is :smxE: ) I have every Saturday. As it turns out today is Saturday, and after a lot of "productive procrastination" (e.g. reading, learning when you don't really need to, etc) I have to show a quite embarrassing start.
I had mention the idea (maybe last week?) looking for a domain idea, but it wasn't until this week I pretty much said 'do or die' for it. They didn't feel *quite right* and being Saturday I was forced to just use the domain I have or else I wouldn't hold true to the commitment:
Disclaimer: Since it's such a new project (and can't do much anyways yet.) I don't have SSL yet. While the chances of people intercepting packets are so small, you might as well just use a fake email, and password if you join. I turned off activation by email until that happens, and nothing will ever be sent to the email address until I get to something worth while. At the point though I'll start fresh and actually have an activation by email.
www.onemoregoal.com
All I keep wanting to do is type up a list of "excuses" and "I know 'x' sucks" (and I have, oh believe me, haha), but I'll try to keep it out of this regardless.
The 'features' on the main page is more of a, what to expect, deal rather than actually implemented. And frankly, imo of those implemented it's poor, and a terrrrribly designed.
Anyway, I'll more just kind of show (with the poor user interface, and some page not styled at all
) where the current aim is with this.
So, for example I am part of expertfootball.com and quite regularly people come in asking about routines for different things. Quite frequently it's the same answer, and I've though how great would it be to be able to send them to a url with beginner-advanced routines (to get them started...) and have videos with the drills too.
Thus arose the ability to have a directory for your (public) routines all in one place. So for this it's:
www.onemoregoal.com/expertfootball
So on that page you see, a terribly laid out page (it'll be better next saturday I promise!
) and a link called 'Soccer', by clicking it your brought to a routine. In this case there is only one workout in the entire routine. You see the amount of reps\times to do the drill, and then if you don't know what the drill is you have the ability to click the drill and see a video.
The videos, I plan to make for everything exercises\drills (or people can use their own), which makes a lot of peoples lives easier. Not only those making the routines (having to explain every exercise\drill), but anyone who stumbles on it can learn how to go about doing the routine.
Anyway, I could continue from there with a huge list of excuses\alibis on how I know a lot of it looks back, what needs improved etc, but I will spare the book.
If you actually put yourself through the torture of looking at this version (trust me, it'll be well worth your time in the future
) I'd love to hear feedback on what you'd like to see in terms of features.
At the moment it's pointless to comment on the layout, it's really just for thrown on so I can make sure something is working. With new things getting added to each page by the day, spending time working on a *great* layout is pointless since I'll just need to be changed. Trust me, I could spend all day changing a layout that is great one hour and the next I hate it.
This is about as short as I can get this without now going into defending myself. Geez, it's ridiculous how much it's bugging me putting this up to see. It's going to serve as great motivation to stop with the terrible "productive procrastination" methods though, eh? haha
After sitting here debating if I should submit this, I've realized this is going to be the hardest time to post (since it sucks
), because it only gets better from here!
EDIT: Also, if you use Internet Explorer, don't go there, it is going to look HORRIBLE. Again, since the layout is constantly going to be changing I'm only going to bother supporting firefox\chrome\etc until it gets closer to a usuable product. Or else I will seriously waste hours, and hours reworking it every week. Do let me know about problems in other browsers though. I believe there are some problems with links not underlining in Firefox (wonky :hover with certain elements), but other than that I'd like to hear problems.
