*Sorry for it being such a long read.*
How hard is it to understand the meaning of no? Okay, being on the front page of the newspaper has it’s pros and cons. I was on the front page one year ago and this insurance salesman (in his late fifties) tracks me down saying he has been trying to catch me since the article. * I didn’t know I was running. LOL* He stopped by Wednesday trying to sell me life insurance. He went through his whole speech and everything. I told him I would have to have some time to think about it.
Fast forward to today, He comes back today with more printouts. I mean it is like he is grasping for money. He blatantly had my last name wrong from what it was the other day.(It was right the other day) He also got quite a few details wrong from our conversation Wednesday. I was starting to feel just like a number. I told him that I thought about it, and that my decision was I was not interested in it at the moment. I also out of courtesy told him that if I change my mind I will give him a call.
I thought he would react like any normal human being and leave. I was terribly wrong
ullhair:, he then goes on to talking about how you could die at any moment from a heart attack or car accident, using examples. While he is talking, I am thinking to myself how do I get rid of this man without giving him what he wants? He asked me a second time about what I thought about it. I told him again that I was not interested. Then he goes on to talking about how cheap it is, that you can get money back tax-free, blah, blah. Then he asks me again what I think, so I told him once more my decision! He then looks at me as if I am crazy, sitting there silently for a few seconds, really making me feel uncomfortable in my own office.
He then went on to saying that he would love to have me as a client and that he could brag that I was one of his clients. He then said that he knew that if he had me as a client I would most likely refer others to him. He then finally left! *Hooray!* This has shown me how desperately people will chase money. He really believed that he could persuade me to change my decision, but I’m like a rock. I don’t ever plan to be like that guy, with a JOB, when I am in my fifties. I plan on being long retired by then, doing as I please. THANKS TO THE FASTLANE!:driving:
So, how do you get people soliciting to go away without being rude? I’m interested to see the responses.
