Hi everyone, I have been lurking on the forums for a few years and been posting more recently but I wanted to make a proper introduction. Apologies for the length of the post.
My name is Dominic, I am 30 and live in Australia. For the past 12 years I have been trying to find my path in life. There are many things I want to do and not be held back by a 9-5 job, waiting for retirement, and following the scripted life.
I grew up in a small, rural, opal mining town called Lightning Ridge and from a young age my dad always told me to find a way to live my best life. He knew about working hard. He was born a few years after WW2 in what was Czechoslovakia. After the war, the Soviets moved in and essentially had full reign of the country. Throughout his life he always wanted to live somewhere where he can be free.
He attempted to escape the country several times in his youth, and even got caught a few times and beaten by guards. But he eventually succeeded and fled to Poland and then discovered books and magazines on Australia. He eventually moved to Australia and started a new life and used his skills in roofing and trades to start a great life. Opal mining also caught his interest and was able to find and sell enough opal to build our family house with all cash and stay debt free his entire life in Australia.
He passed away in 2021 after a 4 and a half year battle with cancer and that really made me rethink my direction in life. If he could uplift his entire family, flee a country under the threat of imprisonment or worse, then I can build a life like he wanted. To be free.
In 2014, I moved from the town to Canberra to start university but after 3 years I dropped out, started reading and discovered MJ’s books. In 2018, I got a job as a personal assistant to one of Australia’s best Real Estate Agents. After a few years I wasn't making as much money as I wanted, but enjoyed my life. Then Covid came around, dad’s passing happened and I was lost again. I quit in 2022 and went into IT sales, fully remote and could travel as I worked.
This changed my entire life. I was making money where ever I was. I was with my family, was there when my niece was born, went to Japan, Singapore and all over Australia. How did I not know a life like this existed?
After a year I was laid off anyway but still had this new fire inside me. I wanted to be able to travel when ever I want. Not ask for permission. Not be stuck. Free.
I went back into Real Estate, to my same boss and now I have a new strategy. I have built my team a new website (After doing Fox’s web design course), manage the other sales agents in my team and redesigned our marketing to bring in more business. I have a much better pay structure and don’t have to hunt for business. A massive win for me. I nail all of the admin and marketing but still do open homes to meet new clients.
Outside of business hours, I am building.
In my day to day of managing my RE team, I noticed a thing that drives me insane. I don’t have a quick way to generate market analysis or proposal documents. It all takes time, and having to change certain aspects of the document for certain homes really annoys me. Maybe one home needs our building company to come through and do a full renovation before going to market, or another needs my sales team to physically help a client move.
Exisiting apps that have a tool like this are either outdated, or don’t allow any customisation. Very much a off-the-shelf product. My team require customisation. Each proposal is different and designed to really tell a client what services they are getting, while also looking beautiful and professional.
So using Antigravity I am building an app that does this. It is coming along and I will likely create a progress thread for this as I was hoping for some insights from other forum members with some of the challenges I am already facing while building this. But I am so damn excited.
