I've embarked on influence marketing, and decided to give it a solid commitment over the next year (ending in early July). So far I've sent out a fair amount of book review requests and free copies of my independently published books. I'm taking a course on book marketing, which recommends an influencer campaign as a viable long-term strategy. Bloggers and podcasters are key people to contact.

Finding podcasters has been a real challenge. I've actually started a collaboration with another author (whom I "met" in an author email group) on an online magazine to help authors expand their reach, find readers, and sell more books. My voluntary role has been to find influencers who fit - or are friendly to - our specific niche (although my books have a broader appeal than that). We're planning for the online mag to have a podcast of its own, specifically because the right podcasters are so difficult to find.

And reviews are important as social proof, so I've been sending emails to indie book reviewers, with the goal of gaining 30 new reviews by mid-September (my first book currently has 16). It's daily work, yet I'm committed to achieving something. Intellifluence was a good resource; I first learned of it in UNSCRIPTED , and found some interested reviewers there.

There's always more to do. I've barely scratched the iceberg of indie reviewers and options. Also, I've adopted a basic work schedule of marketing on 4 mornings per week and writing (now on my fourth novel) 2 days a week.

Still learning Amazon ads (studying a book and the 3 As), haven't yet started Facebook ads, becoming an entrepreneur...it's exciting, and I'm glad to have this forum.

That sounds very interesting!

In case you havent tried before, I recommend:

-Goodreads to reach new readers.
-Ryan Holiday is a master marketer when it comes to books. You can apply some of his techniques.

Good luck!
