Hi all,
Firstly great book, I have been an 'ideas man' all my life and guess what, yep, still in the slow lane. That one concept in the book changed everything for me; 'Ideas are nothing, execution is everything'.
So on that note (getting the execution right) I have a question (which Google actually can't answer for me) to all the fastlaners doing it out there on the web.
I am launching a web business. I have/had?? the perfect name but low and behold that name is taken (for .com at least). The domain name I wanted is two words (i.e www.twowords.com) but the same name with a ‘-‘ ie www.two-words.com is free .
So my question is what are the implications if you launch a web business with the name including the ‘-‘ while someone else owns the ‘better' version ( the better version has been parked since 2006 and I did try and buy it but never got a reply).
Worse case scenario is if visitor traffic takes off, that other site will get some of my traffic by default, marketing will be harder to make sure people go to the right site and even worse the person might establishes a similar business with that name and take even more of my traffic.
I would like to know if anyone has been in a similar situation and how important it is to own the most basic, slimmest version of your name and also how important it is to own all the possible extensions to that domain name before you launch your site.
Many thanks for all those that share their thoughts
regards cris
